Riassunto
UFO: Aftershock è una combinazione di combattimento tattico in squadra e strategia globale che migliora e amplia il suo prequel, UFO: Aftermath.
È l'anno 2054. Cinquant'anni dopo il disastro. Cinquant'anni dopo che la superficie della Terra è diventata inabitabile. Ritiratisi nel rifugio volante di Laputa, i resti dell'umanità si sono aggrappati all'esistenza. Poi una rivolta contro la leadership umana di Laputa, sempre più rigida e corrotta, è degenerata in un conflitto che ha distrutto la colonia. Ora, i sopravvissuti fuggono ancora una volta. Riusciranno a reclamare la Terra dalle forze sconosciute che li hanno cacciati nei cieli?
Trama
Dopo la distruzione del sistema di supporto vitale della Laputa (leggi: stazione o città spaziale), i popoli della Laputa si ribellarono al Consiglio degli Umani, che cercò di mettere a tacere le loro obiezioni. Il conflitto armato fu presto inevitabile e la Laputa fu distrutta poco dopo l'esplosione dei suoi motori. I pochi sopravvissuti, che sono riusciti a malapena ad uscirne vivi fuggendo su navette spaziali, trovano un'altra Laputa abbandonata nello spazio. Questa Laputa è dotata di una capsula di atterraggio per la Terra, che si dice sia stata persa da tempo. Unlike UFO: Aftermath, Aftershock is a long way off X-Com style gameplay. However, the game tends almost impossibly hard quite early on (before you get proper weapons) and in the late-mid game up to the point where I'd be happy that my soldiers even survived. In most other parts of the game, it simply got too easy and repetitive. The game has an excellent tactical concept, but many missions can be resolved without tactics. And worst of all, it tends to slow down badly if you have too many units on a mission and the base management can be frustrating late in the game. However, it's a great, fun game with an interesting storyline, worth a look if it's in the bargain bin or purchased as part of the trilogy.

Aftershock is a very difficult but fun strategy title that marries strategic and tactical portions which are both compelling and fully-developed, as well as an important RPG system, which also interconnects quite well with the other portions of the game.
