Instead COTW requires stealth, cunning and most importantly, patience. As in real life animals don't conveniently stand around waiting for you to shoot them and will flee if you come steaming in and will be long gone by the time you reach the area you spotted them. What this game does offer is an experience that is a close to hunting as any game has ever attempted. Starting with the maps which are many and vast with graphics that beautifully capture their surroundings. From the lush forests and lakes of north west America to the African savannah which can be traversed on foot or vehicle. You will be treated to stunning locations and a diverse eco system with weather cycles running through the day/night. Everything is fully upgradable from weapons, ammo, lures, clothing etc. There is also a comprehensive skills and perk system that allows you to become more proficient with weaponry, tracking and hunting. Tracking works well through a simple system of locating footprints which will change colour for the animal you following and fetus droppings that will inform you how long ago they have been there, giving you a indication of whether you should be moving more swiftly or starting the process of stalking. The game is a sandbox so you can either play it completely your way or try out the missions and side quests which are light on story but interesting enough to get you engaged as they often get you to visit all corners of the map and introduce you to mechanics like lookout towers and feeding/sleeping zones amongst others. All in all COTW is a stunning hunting simulator. If you enjoy hunting or looking for a shooter with a relaxed pace then this game is most definitely for you.

You should be able to run faster and have a stamina skills point, the hunter should be able to swim as the game is supposed to be as realistic as possible, the quad smokes and blows up when in water, the quad has an eerie weird like echo sound effects when braking and driving, there should be bait and traps as that’s what hunter use in the real world, have more interesting missions like hunting with other characters on story mode, there should be silencers for weapon, .

It's not BIg Buck Arcade where you shoot 8 deer in one minute you will get 1 deer/animal every 5-15 minutes or so. With all the extra updates and maps up to 2020 it has become even a better game. It can be a grind. It does take time to figure out how everything works I had to go to YouTube to learn how things worked. This is one of the only faults of the game. Looks great on the base PS4 console and they are a small European studio and The Hunter has 50 square miles of open world in the woods, mountains, creeks also with dynamic weather and it's amazing!

So if you want a new rifle: go hunt a couple dozen or more animals with the rifle you have unlocked first. You know how they always ask to see your Hunter Card when you go to purchase a new hunting rifle at the shop IRL? Yeah me either... cause they DON'T DO THAT. It is ABSURD. Can you imagine the clerk telling you "Oh sorry sir, you don't have the Rifle score for this .45-70. Can I interest you in this nice .223 instead?" ... seriously?!?!?! I did manage to unlock all the rifles in my 100+ hours, but didn't earn any xp for my Shotguns, Pistols, or Bows. The only reason I can think of for this is to arbitrarily draw out the progression so that it takes you longer. In the end I realized I would play for hundreds of hours (literally) before I got to the point where I could just "go on a hunt". Not go out to level up so I could purchase equipment that I wanted to use, or hunt something specific (possibly with a specific gun, in a specific area), or "discover"/unlock all the outposts and viewpoints... I am tired of doing all that. I just wanted to go hunt, the way I wanted to do it.Clearly they are enthusiastic about making an "immersive environment", but they don't know how to make "a fun game". There will be many times where the game has given you absolutely zero indication that there is an animal near you. Then you will suddenly hear it flee, while you are sitting still crouched in a bush 10 meters away. Since there was no visual indication, and it made no sound (even though it was clearly moving through the forest), so there was ZERO chance for me to detect it since it was off screen. Turn to the right slowly... then it sees you just as you see it and it is gone just as you realize you just missed an opportunity. BAD GAME DESIGN.Playing a mission to hunt a Moose? You'll spot a dozen Coyote around. On a mission for a Coyote? You will go to their need zones and never see one. They are everywhere... until you are on a mission for one. Same with every animal except the unique mission-only animals. You can find them all over, until you need to.I wanted to love this game. I tried to for 100+ hours playing it. I just don't because they make bad design choices at almost every turn.If you can get past the many, *many*, faults: this can be enjoyable. Also you can't just "start playing and hunt". In this "game" (under the lazy excuse of what they deem to be "immersion") you will wander for a good while before getting to "do anything". Sometimes I play for 2-3 hours and never even spot an animal once. They consider that "immersion", but I just consider that a waste of my time. Games usually try to be respectful of a player's time, being understanding that most people can't sit down and play a game for 4 hours straight. Most games understand not everyone has perfect hearing, or perfect vision: so they offer aids to the player to help with this, where CotW just leaves you in the dark... again in the name of "immersion". So if you have a life outside of gaming, and only game for 2-3 hours at a time: I also do not suggest this game.TL;DR - Don't waste your money on this bug-ridden, progression dragging, underdeveloped game. They aren't going to fix it. They are just going to put out new DLC that will break it even further.

Even after more than 100 hunted animals it still feels super satisfying when you manage to hunt down an animal. The maps are huge and contain one of the most beautiful forrests and landscapes you will find in a video game. I also liked the exp and gun point system. Don't understand why some users are complaining about this, because you'll find similar systems a lot of games.All in all I would recommend this game to adult player who sympathize with "slow gaming".

theHunter: Call of the Wild isn’t for everyone. It takes a lot of patience and can be impenetrable for those without experience in hunting simulators. But for those with the grit to push through the steep learning curve, this game is quite possibly the best hunting game of all time. If you’re curious about it, I highly recommend giving it a go.

If you're looking for an immersive and dignified hunting experience, you'll be absolutely hooked for hours on end. Falling into both camps, I know that the latter sensation ultimately prevails over the former. I'll be playing this one for a long time going forward, and not just because it takes forever to get new gear.

The Hunter: CotW drops most of the arcade style and replaces it with a slower paced, more realistic hunt. At first, I thought this would limit the audience to a more narrow scope of player. That is, until my 9-year-old daughter quit playing Minecraft, sat down next to me and asked, “Can I play?” Since then, she has logged more time playing than I have.

It was extremely refreshing to play a game that played at the pace I wanted it to and not have to worry about convoluted story lines. Yes, it may get a tad repetitive after a while, but it looks stunning, plays beautifully and I look forward to heading back to the hunt some more.

If you wouldn’t normally touch a hunting game, I’d urge you to view theHunter: Call of the Wild as the ultimate “walking simulator” and give it a fair shake of the shotgun. I don’t regret the many rewarding hours I ploughed into this engaging, immersive safari and can see myself returning to theHunter: Call of the Wild’s wonderful wilderness again and again.

A mixture of realistic hunting simulation and literal walking simulator with a fairly gentle introduction, The Hunter: Call of the Wild is certainly not a game for the impatient. It's beautiful vistas and sedate pace make it a very chilled out experience for the most part, full of relaxing exploration, but to engage in the hunt itself is a tremendously time-consuming act.

However, the loading and playing has so many bugs, I have personally experienced 4 total unfixable crashes with which the incompetent help desk just shrugged their shoulders. Night time, sunny, cloudy, rain, fog, dusk, dawn, thunders, This is a hunting game, not a shooting gallery. Expect to be stalking or luring your prey for some time before you can get to make a shot. The graphics are AMAZING. Maxed out it's incredible. The sound is very realistic, and they're clearly samples from real animals that were recorded. There are two maps that are both very large: Europe and North America. Wildlife varies from animals like elk, moose, coyote, bears, deer, boar, etc. It could use a few more weapons. This game would be perfect if it had duck hunting. It's the best nature simulator out there.lightning, wind gusts... you name it, the game recreated them perfectly.

When theHunter: Call of the Wild works properly, it’s still going to be a game that only those with the patience of a saint would enjoy. It’s very slow, full of barriers, and isn’t very exciting. That’s not to say it’s not completely without merit as it’s a stunner to look at and there are rare occasions where everything comes together to make a compelling experience. Just note that those rare occasions are few and far between.

If hunting is your bag then theHunter is a game which could very much tick all the right boxes for you. Compared to the competition I’ve experienced this is right there at the top of the pile, and it’s a game which is only going to grow as Expansive Worlds continues to layer it with more content.
