I feel the best example for this would be Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG. Everyone who have interest to TCG's loves the game and they never released a real playable competitive simple less looks like JRPG more looks like casual TCG such asMTG or HS but it never happened. Let's start talk about SAO Alicization Lycoris. On the loading screen I was really hopeful this time yet it didn't happen but when I started the game it was slow. Yes slow but I'm not talking about game progress at some fighting moments sometimes games slowing down it's kinda effect but it just feels like your console is lagging. Fighting acts still looks and feels like mobile games yet it's SAO I mean everybody loves it's Anime series right? Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris is an enjoyable RPG for fans of the series, but requires a lot of commitment from the player to learn its gameplay systems. The pacing is glacial at times, and the hiding of multiplayer baffling, but exploring the huge environments of unerworld and battling beasties is enjoyable if you can get past these game engine issues.

In the end, the story is interesting, the graphics are beautiful, and with the open-world concept with much to do, it’s definitely a great game for SAO fans and is definitely a step up from the previous titles.

With an expansive main campaign that takes far too long to get started and quite a few underdeveloped mechanics, this Sword Art game is a tough sell for anyone but the most dedicated fans.

If you’re a huge Sword Art Online fan, or are simply after an expansive JRPG to sink your teeth into, you will get some enjoyment out of Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris. It requires some patience and persistence, however, and you’ll still be far from impressed by it. Poor performance hampers its gameplay, while long and frequent load times in conjunction with poor pacing often make it feel like a slog. So many times, especially during the first chapter of the game, you’ll be itching for some action only to be hit with an hour or more of story scenes. Eventually, you might be tempted to just drop it and play something that treats your time more respectfully.

Truthfully, the only kind of person I can recommend this game to is a diehard Sword Art Online superfan who has never played a JRPG (or honestly, any other video game) in their life and therefore has no basis to compare the trainwreck that is Alicization Lycoris to anything else that has substance. Otherwise, just watch the anime. Or play a different game.

All in all, Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris on Xbox One is hindered tremendously by far too many problems and it’d be a tad foolish to consider a purchase until it’s had a much-needed patch, or two. Only then will the exciting combat and the infinitely more enjoyable multiplayer aspect be appreciated.

Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris tries to experiment with too many different mechanics without making them too compelling, and that's hampered by a lackluster technical production. It's anyway got a good basis, and SAO fans will definitely appreciate its depiction of the anime's universe and the huge levels of fan service present.

I'd advise stay away from this game until the technical issues are fixed and wait for a sale.

The MP and Character creator are gated behind finishing Chapter 1 which can take 10-15 hours. You will spend a good chunk of time to get through the cut scenes. So if cut scenes aren't your thing you may be lost in the story since its the game verse and not canon after chapter 1 but you can skip themPersonally, the combat felt somewhat flashy but slow compared to the other games but it still seems interested. Hopefully, once records (AI) are fixed on PC it will be a better combat experience. Cut scenes for Enhanced Armament and Release are cool but the cut scenes get old really fast during combat.Hold off on buying and see what the patch fixes performance and gameplay-wise. Other than that wait for a sale as in its current state for PC it's not worth the 60 dollars

Multiplayer is a really positive experience, and it becomes very easy to sink hours into just exploration and small side quests, with no attention being paid to the main story. Pick up and play is a feeling so rarely found in JRPG titles that it feels like a really positive step towards what should be seen as the new normal. What is baffling, then, is hiding such a great feature, along with all the other main parts of Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris behind 12+ hours of repetitive story. The honest truth is that players with a passing interest aren't going to put the hours in to get past the initial chapter, and in doing so, are going to miss out on an enjoyable experience with a lot to offer for both casual players and hardcore fans. Stick with it.

People have been waiting for years to finally get what could be considered a really good Sword Art Online game, but the fourth time is certainly not the charm for developer Aquria with probably the most disappointing attempt yet due to the overall squandered potential in Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris.

Most games will attempt to “hook” you within the first couple of hours — this includes RPGs with run-of-the-mill introductory and fetch quests — combined with epic moments and multiple concepts. In Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris‘ case, those epic moments and engaging concepts happened far too little too late, and you had no choice but to sit through hours of banal and monotonous linearity.

Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris marks a new era of Sword Art Online games, both graphically and narratively. This is an adventure for fans and newcomers that truly builds upon this virtual world through new characters and hundreds of quests. The downside is that you may have to clear a lengthy first chapter to discover everything it has to offer, but luckily for those who do, there’s so much awaiting them. There’s still some quality-of-life work that needs to be done in terms of loading times and assist pop-ins, but as a fan of the previous SAO games, this entry simply blew me away.

Optimization issues aside, Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris is a solid entry in to the SAO game series. Inviting visuals, recognizable characters, and action packed battles await those willing to put in the time to get past chapter one.
