I've seen a lot of great screenshots all over the internet, so I hoped the game would look awesome. Man, was I wrong! And the thing is not even open world, unlike forza that looks 10 times better.It took me like 20 minutes to beat the first track (it just wouldn't let me open the main menu unless I did). As soon as you touch the the ground outside the track, your lap results are "not counted". The thing that's supposed to show you trajectory and speed is just broken. It can go from blue(too slow) to red(too fast) like 10 times per second.And after I got through the tutorial, I gained access to 1 race track. Everything else was locked. I couldn't get the required time on that track no matter how I tried, so career mode was a no-go for me. I also tried to race with bots, but they were just completely ignoring me. They were driving on their trajectories and hitting me as soon as I got on their way.Oh, and the game doesn't even support dualshock.

In Ride 4, you’ll get an uncommonly beautiful racing game with a brilliant driving model and superb utilization of the DualSense controller. But be warned - the difficulty is punishing and the AI is intent on crashing your bike.

Newcomers to motorcycle racing (or people just wanting a new game for their new PS5) are going to face an uphill climb as they acclimate themselves to the unique complexities of Ride 4’s gameplay demands. There are systems in place to make the experience a bit easier but I would have liked to see a stronger emphasis on the fundamentals of controlling a high-speed bike - and the initial license exam would have been the perfect opportunity for that. As it stands, there might be some substantial hurdles for the player to overcome before they get to a point where they feel like they’ve got a proper handle on Ride 4’s deep approach to simulated racing.

Outside of its great use of the DualSense, RIDE 4 is a frustrating and disappointing experience. The lack of a meaningful tutorial, an aggravatingly difficult and boring campaign mode, the absence of local multiplayer, and the greedy credit system all equate to a game that feels like it was rushed for people hungry to get a next-gen motorcycle experience. RIDE 4 feels like a tech demo of the DualSense and nothing more. For an immersive racing experience on PS5, it is better to switch gears and look forward to Gran Turismo 7.

Then Ride 4 was announced and I was excited as it promised to be bigger and better in every way.Is it? Yes, it is, but the problems remains the same as in Ride3. It most definitely is not a copy and paste, but a reworked and restructure of the old game, which is both a good and bad thing. If you liked Ride 3, you will love Ride 4, and that is basically it. They striped away some features like upgrade options to the bikes, but added more to the rider outfit customization. Which was a good thing in my opinion, but I liked some of those features, like being able to change your grips and mirrors. Non the less, in that sense it is not more, but I can live with that as the bikes do look stunning. Where the more comes in, I can not really say. But better, most definitely, the bikes control better, the environment looks better, the weather looks great and the tyre wear is more than welcome in my books. So I like the game, but then again, I am a racing fanatic. Does this mean everyone will enjoy the game, I am afraid not. It does not offer more than just racing, but then again most racing games are like that, but at least they are accessible for the most. Ride 4, same as Ride 3, have some races that just don’t feel possible at times, it can be hard as nails, and I do believe this is intensional. It gives a sense of reward when you finally achieve gold. Although I also honestly believe this is the games biggest down fall which makes it un accessible for the casual players. I however can not fault the game in this, if this is what the developers intended, then so be it. I hope it is not just a tool to promote optional credit multiplier to the casual market. I strongly believe that this difficulty is what the fan base wants, and I am referring to the more hardcore sim racing fans out there. Those who will still support the game long after it has been released. The biggest drawback for the game is the AI, which is used as a selling tool, but is even worse than Ride 3 in my opinion. They feel like mindless numbs noticing everything on track except you, the player. Hopefully this will be fixed with a future update. Other than that, I can recomend this game to fan of the series, it is the best in the franchise to date. But I can not recommend it to casual players, especially not with the time trials, time attack and penalties at the moment. Should the have been a difficulty setting for more than just AI, it would have been a yes. But due to the steep learning curve of bike control, it is not something you can just jump into and enjoy. It takes time and some commitment, that only the few hardcore racing fans might appreciate. It is even at times too difficult for my liking. Should you be wondering if you must try the game, check out ride 3 first. If like that game and can except the difficulty, you will enjoy Ride 4 as it is much better structured, and this was the biggest changes for me. Ride 3 should be marked down right now and can be picked up quite cheap. I bought it on special a year after release, and then paid full price when ride 4 released. You either love it, or you hate it.

They seem to have some bikes rated too high in some categories and not high enough in others. This is minor compared to the other issues.Overall, the great graphics and modeling on the existing bikes cannot save this from the, overall, player unfriendly racing and downgraded bike customization.

Ride 4 offers a tonne of content for those who itching for a deep dive into an expansive career mode. Race all across the world by winning licenses to open up access into better and more advanced events. Gain affinity with various bikes and manufacturers on the way to becoming the greatest rider. However, a weak online mode, a lack of other real features outside of the career mode and having a steep learning curve for beginners prevents Ride 4 from being the complete package. With plenty of bikes on offer, and upgrades on both the 'stock' and 'racing' side of things to allow for vast improvements over the troublesome AI, this is one of the better digital biking experiences out there.

With challenging yet fun racing, a career mode filled with content and a ton of different motorcycles, Ride 4 offers us most things we want from a racing game. Unfortunately, much of the enjoyment is hampered due to an unbelievably uneven difficulty level. Simple races are interspersed with challenging competitions and purely diabolical challenges. Ride 4 is still the most complete motorcycle racing game and a big upgrade compared to its predecessor - but be prepared to have your patience tested.

Where the game succeeds, it does so beautifully. True to life graphics and fun and funky music are great tools. But at the end of the day, it’s the content within that will determine the fate of you game. I feel that Ride 4, is simply not for newer players. Veteran’s of the style will probably adore it. New players who want to break into the genre, I’d recommend MotoGP 20 first.

Whoever at Milestone made the decision to include the license tests in their current form needs to be prohibited from making any important decisions about game design. They're just terrible, and make no sense. I need to get a BMW S1000RR around a very technical track in pouring rain on street tires while maneuvering it through very unforgiving gate sections at high speed in order to participate in races? Yeah, that's just ridiculous. The amount of time trials is just annoying and not balanced at all like they were in Ride 3. Ride 3 allowed you to develop some skill and familiarity with the bikes and tracks before demanding you set fast times, but this game throws you right into the deep end for no reason.They already released a patch, but the AI is still terrible and will just ram you off, or crash right in front of you. There's audio and visual glitches too (for example sometimes it sounds like it's raining for no reason at all). The bike list and rating system is really odd. For example the 2019 GSX-R 1000 costs more and handles better than the 2019 GSX-R 1000R even though that's completely the opposite of reality. Sometimes when looking at these bike ratings it makes you wonder if the people plugging in these numbers had anyone in the building who knew anything about riding motorcycles at all.They claim there's more patches on the way, and for now I'm going to quit playing and hope the patches help when they're released. This is the first PS4 game I've ever played and then wanted my money back after playing. Unfortunately I ordered it digitally so that's not possible. I felt confident preordering it digitally because I was such a huge fan of Ride 3 and their MotoGP games, but I'll never make that mistake again. Milestone is now added to the list of companies that I need to wait until the game is released and reviewed before I decide to buy. And that's a real shame.

There are many motorcycles missing that were previously in Ride 2. Overall the bugs in the game are limited thanks to an early patch. What I do find somewhat strange is that while driving and you look at the motorcycle from the side, you see several rear tires offset one behind the other possibly to give a shadow effect? The seams of the gloves also glow excessively in neon green or yellow, which takes away from the realism. They just need to have a very slight yellow tinge. As far as the sound, you can tell from some sounds from which motorcycles they could be, but many of them just sound very generic in style. Unfortunately, I can also say something negative about the driving physics as in the other games in the franchise. While playing the highest simulation level, I can hardly crash some bikes in a high lean angle and full throttle, which is obviously unrealistic being in full on simulation. With ABS off and the wheels also hardly lock up. You can't crash a wheelie by giving too much throttle and you can’t brake too much when doing a stoppie either. The AI has definitely improved this time around, but it may be too realistic for some players, because you can easily make too many mistakes. In nearly every race the AI rams into you with a lot of speed. The Milestone signature rewind function also makes its way to Ride 4, no big surprise there so that's a plus for players who want to play in simulation without too much worry or frustration in the end. In general, it's fun to drive around with the motorcycles, especially because there are no real alternatives to the Ride franchise. Ride 4 like the rest of the franchise I feel are a bit over on the price of admission for the overall content of the game. For me, even as Ride is Milestone's weakest franchise as I mentioned earlier it's still a great game. I may have pointed out a lot of negatives but there are all the Ride positives in place as well for fans of the franchise. If you enjoy motorcycle games or Milestone's franchises in general you should defintely enjoy what Ride 4 has to offer you for your Xbox One and upcoming Xbox Series X library.

Ride 4 is a racing game made only for racers. This isn’t your casual “have a few friends over, have a couple drinks and mess around” type of game like Mario Kart, it’s a picky, sensitive, intricate, realistic, and truly beautiful game. It is tough to play. It’s not friendly to new players, but to the experienced racer, it would be tough to imagine what improvements could be made to a completed work of art such as this. To them, it’s nigh on perfection.

Overall, RIDE 4 was my first attempt at getting my toes wet for motorcycles both in general and racing wise. While excited going into this new world, I found myself uninterested and not entertained. Most racing games really bring me in and keep me there technically. As someone who works with their hands a lot and wants to know how things work/make them go faster, racing games really get me going. Herewith RIDE 4, I didn’t really fill that. It felt lackluster and just kind of plain.

That said, I really felt that I was racing on the seat of my pants. With all of the options that you can tweak, Ride 4 will allow even the novice rider confidently take an R1 down the tarmac, or at least to the first corner.There are two editions of Ride 4 available, standard and special. The special edition will feature a steel-book dedicated to the iconic Yamaha R1 2020 as well as a season pass with an additional 65 new bikes, 2 tracks and 150 new events.If you love motorbike racing, Ride 4 is for you, just be aware that like any motorbike it can be an unforgiving soab if you get it wrong on track.

It really feels like a reenactment of a race, the A.I doesn't even acknowledge your player, if you stand in their way, they WILL crash into you, making singleplayer races a terrible place to be if you're trying to have fun.I was truly hoping that they would fix the A.I, at least it was an improvement from the 3rd game, but still not good enough to be in a racing game IMO.And it doesn't stop there, the difficulty meter is also a joke, even at the "very easy" level, there are bikes faster than yours, and the same ridiculous A.I, it feels more like a placebo than anything. Even when buying and upgrading new motorcycles, you don't really get a advantage, all the NPC's will use bikes with similar, or even the same specs as yours, technically making for a more balanced experience, but not really.If you're new to motorcycle racing games... There's a good variety of game modes to play through, giving a lot of replay variety, with the new endurance races being a high point. Some smaller race types, however, are infuriating in their rigidity and inaccessibility. The AI has been improved thanks to the new A.N.N.A. system, but it still isn't the most realistic and you'll find the computer trying to wipe you out for having the temerity of being where they want to be. For every negative, there are at least two positives, making this the most solid of Milestone's outings, I'd recommend it.
