Welcome to the Interstellar Sandbox! With 18 *FREE* major content updates, the latest being incredible all by its wee self, this game delivers. And delivers and delivers. In fact, it has changed and improved so much since it's release, that any reviews written before 2019 are totally and completely misrepresenting what this game is today. When I first bought it, I played for roughly 5 hours and after one massively disappointing experience, I put the game away, for what I thought would be forever. However, mid 2021 I started reading that NMS had changed drastically. Without reading further in to it, I decided to give it another look.That look turned into approximately 500 hours of playtime and platinum trophies on both PS4 and PS5. I couldn't believe how much content had been packed in this game. So much so, that there were times I'd just zone out while playing, trying to comprehend how this game was capable of doing what it was doing, and how it was possible. (Didn't figure much out, but that's okay because I don't work there) Audio - 40/42Video - 42/42 (Next generation is gorgeous) Controls:Ship - 42/42Rover - 20/42On foot - 38/42 Terraforming - 36/42Exploration - 42/42Travel and Accommodations- 42/42Base Building - A million. (Thanks to an orbital construction camera for easier piece placement and a large selection of parts to build with) Questing - Repetitive in a lot of aspects, but it's almost a secondary function of the game after a point. For what this game is and then became and for how much I got out of this game, I'm rating it at %100. The game has improved drastically over the years since launch and they have pretty much given us every promise even if they did take years to do so. I can say now that the game is finally worth the price of admission. I am currently playing the game on PS5 mainly through PSVR and it’s a surreal experience. Flying into a planet while burning through the atmosphere and then seeing the strange beauty of the planet through vr is spectacular. Then finding a perfect place to build a base overlooking a town that you are running is amazing. This game definitely isn’t for everyone but if you like exploration and discovery and you have the time to burn no man’s sky is a must purchase especially if you have a VR headset.

No Man's Sky has made enormous leaps forward, and its arrival on PS5 is an opportune time to revisit this ambitious survival game. Whether you upgrade your existing game to the new version or grab it for the very first time, you'll be getting the best experience, with dozens of hours of content and a literal universe waiting to be explored. Some remaining gameplay issues mean it isn't perfect, but it has plenty to offer those who persevere.

But HelloGames did their homework and step by step the game has been improved to be the product that was promised and even a little more than that with some added features there was no mention of before. Still though I can't give it more than a 7. Performance issues on all platforms and the repetitive grind are still there and I don't think it deserves a higher score than a 7 because they lied to us in the past. They do deserve respect for owning up to their mistake and fixing the game! But even so it's only good, it's not great.

Two years after its initial release, No Man’s Sky have developed into a whole different game. Tons of new content, several updates and patches for the online section, more features for crafting system, new missions, and many, many more added features have made NMS a valuable title.

While features like multiplayer and base-building certainly put more proverbial asses in seats, they're also the least memorable additions to an otherwise thoughtful experience.

Finally available on Xbox One, during the last two years No Man's Sky has become a huge exploration game, still flawed by technical and design problems, but totally worth a ride.

Technically, No Man’s Sky delivers the idea Hello Games promised — a massive sci-fi playground for you to explore. However, once you’ve spent some time poking around, it’s hard not to notice that the playground feels fairly empty, even two years later and after massive content additions.

Don’t be guided by the game’s daunting history. No Man’s Sky is now a near-outstanding experience that sits in a league of its own. Despite some issues with the game’s textures, delayed rendering and some unstable framerates, No Man’s Sky is a diverse, deep and ambitious player-shaped adventure that’s constantly intriguing.

An astounding achievement. Hello Games deserve credit for creating one of the best games of this console generation - even if it did take a couple of years longer than planned.

While No Man's Sky is engrossing for the first few hours, repetition starts to set in and the proceedings grow dull. The developers stated that they plan to add significant features such as base building which could dramatically change the game for the better. There's a promising foundation present, so it's possible to envision a more substantial game down the line. As it currently stands, though, our excitement to cross the universe faded sooner than we expected.

No Man’s Sky is a missed opportunity to do something truly epic, and while the final game, when measured moment by moment, showed glimpses of something more than merely ordinary, the final result, was far less than. Promises aside, there’s just not enough to this universe to make it worth exploring.

The crafting system is tedious and surviving is not really a worry for you, since resources are overly abundant and dying is not punishing enough. In other words, it's okay to die. No big deal.The lifeforms are all too similar. The only difference you'll be seeing is extra limbs and/or larger smaller sizes of the same recopies.The most important thing worth mentioning is the controversial misleading or false claims about features in the game from the now infamous (and absent), developer. There are no desert planets or large sand worms or unique lifeforms as shown in the trailer. Space battles are very limited compared to the official trailer.If that isn't enough, the ending slaps you in the face instead. Interested in what the creators of the game might have in store for you at the center of the galaxy? Umm well, here is a hint: watch The Sopranos ending at 1 minute.

No Man's Sky is not the fever dream I imagined when I saw the first trailer. However, it is still an amazing technical feat, even if it's still rather full of bugs.

If you enjoy the game art and somewhat hypnotic aimlessness of wandering through generated universe, you could wander for another five or ten years. Otherwise, you leave the game after a few hours never to come back.

Procedural generation is not an end. It is a means to an end. But there is no such end in No Man’s Sky. It’s endless randomness for the sake of endless randomness. It does what it does because it can, not because it should. I would describe it as procedural generation in search of a game, but it’s worse than that. It has found its game. And the game is hollow and awful.

No Man’s Sky has very clear problems. Its mechanics are insubstantial, with the crafting and inventory management systems being a particular exercise in tedium. Yet its scale and beauty is unmatched by any other game I’ve ever seen. It does things no other game ever has. It’s tempting to call No Man’s Sky “decent, but not great,” but that undersells both the game’s successes and its failures. No Man’s Sky is incredible, awe-inspiring, and profoundly disappointing.

An impressive piece of technology capable of generating some truly gorgeous vistas, the game layered on top however disappoints in almost every way and just has no depth. Planets are fun to wander around whilst gathering resources to move on but you won’t linger.

Despite its missed opportunities and forgotten promises, I’m still glad I dropped the money to experience No Man’s Sky. It’s something unique in a world where most of what we get are sequels or off-shoots. Fortune favors the bold, and I hope this is just the beginning of the type of innovation we can expect to see from Hello Games. And frankly, I hope they take all the time they need with their next game.

Hello Games achieved what they set out to do. They have crafted a massive galaxy of planets for players to explore. That feat is nothing short of extraordinary, and I think everyone who enjoys games should experience that. That said there IS a lot of potential for this game. That's why I think for now 60 (Euro) is too much. In this current state 50 or even 40 would be better.I've encountered 2 bugs so far. With 18 Quintillion world in just one (of possibly many) galaxies, there is just no limit to my exploration bug.World generation is crazy, making Minecraft look tame, The creatures and plants that live on these worlds are straight out of 1960's SciFi book covers and comic books.There is even an underlying story to the four major races in the game (if there are four, I have only found one so far).If I had any complaints, it would be inventory management or the early lack of inventory space is a pain. However I could say the same for pretty much every game I mentioned above. You can fairly quickly start increasing those spaces by finding objects on the planets that will increase your suits inventory.A nit pick would be that planets usually don't bunch up together like they have here. There should be planets all around their star. I should have to fly past the star to get to planets that might be on the other side. Not the case here. They are all pretty much bunched up together. Physics wouldn't allow this, but hey. It's a game not a true simulator.That's really it. The fact that there is probably one one "hand drawn" object in the game, the main alien races mentioned earlier. Everything else is put together by the game, Ships, Multi-tool guns, plants, animals, planets, everything. Why do I have to click-and-hold-until-a-bar-fills-up to do anything?- I like to play while listening to podcasts and while you can mute almost everything, you can't mute the voice that constantly talks to you. Hearing "Item received" while you mass-craft things every 2 seconds is annoying as **** and you can't mute it.- The game doesn't do a good job explaining even the basic gameplay mechanics.- You can't alt-tab it. If you do it will crash and restart which is annoying as **** since I like to alt-tab all the time.- Why are the "achievement" moment unskippable? Again, annoying as ****.Most of those things will hopefully get patched or fixed at some point. There is however a one, big issue I have with this game:It is a giant farm fest. That's literally all You ever do. Just far, farm, farm and the farm some more. You're constantly forced to farm massive amounts of stuff just to get around. You need resources all the time, to fuel Your ship, fuel Your life support, Your weapons and the game is constantly nagging You farm some more. It is boring as ****.Maybe they can balance it better in future updates but as it is I can't see myself playing it anymore.Not to mention the PC version if sold at full price of 60$ and it's absolutely not worth it.Save Yourself some frustration and boredom and skip this **** or wait until it's on sale for 5$.

No Man's Sky has no real flaws (except the star maps, really a disaster), but many limitations, but often due to his youth. It seems now clear that the objective of Sean Murray is to create another phenomenon a la Minecraft. The designer has already announced the arrival of terrestrial resources, the ability to build our own bases, even larger ships. Moreover, in a similar game structure you can add anything, including new variables, new land, new formulas to make things even more varied and surprising. No Man's Sky is not only gameplay, but there is something more, and that something is hidden in each of us.

No game, film, book or otherwise has been more effectively in capturing what the experience of exploring the universe must be. Lonely, hostile and unforgiving, Hello Game’s effort works so hard to reject the convention on how games are made that it’s easy to understand why people expecting something more traditional might come away disappointed.

It's basically an exploration/survival game, with minimal crafting and adventure elements. If you came to this game expecting an epic, sweeping story, you will not find one. You effectively do the same thing in every star system and every planet, with very small, cosmetic alterations between them.Even the much vaunted 'quintillion worlds' feature is a bit of a let-down as, apart from palette differences, most planets are created from the same few templates. Plants (flora) are especially indistinct, as every planet has the same basic types that contain iron, platinum, zinc, etc.Also, the graphics are pretty poor; I own several consoles and a PC, and I know a console is never going to be cutting edge in terms of graphics, but this wouldn't look out of place on PS3. And I'm talking early-release PS3.I've played the game quite a bit and there is a grim determination to the grind of upgrading, travelling to a new star system, searching for elements, etc. But where does it end? The game has three 'paths', but these are just a clever way of rationalising your gameplay type; explore, head for the end or just wander about randomly. They make no difference to the plot.An odd choice for an AAA release, and an even odder choice for a tentpole console game. I can imagine this finding its audience in the Steam community, with mods and the like, but for £45/$60 on the PS4... What were Sony thinking?

No Man's Sky is an atypical game that offers an experience outside the norm. For one of the very first times (except Minecraft) we really have the feeling of macrocosmos. In this infinite universe, thousands of other players travel into cosmos like you but have no chance to meet you. The gameplay is repetitive but not uninteresting. It's a good game but we hope Hello Games will add content in the future.
