This story revolves around an End-War between Heaven, Hell, and Mankind which is basically the Apocalypse. The Horseman are tasked to maintain the balance and act as intermediatory between the three factions. The war is supposed to start when Mankind is equally as strong as the Demons of Hell & Angels of Heaven but the war is started prematurely and leaves Earth in ruins, with most humans dead. You are War, the fourth and youngest Horseman who is tasked to find who started the war and got you into this mess. The game is kind of Dungeon based Open World and is fun as well as frustrating at times while exploring. There are limited weapons that keep the game grounded with smooth combat and fluid animations. The lore is quite interesting and keeps you guessing throughout the journey. There is a lot of content and great character moments that you even get to meet in the successive games in the franchise.

Combat, while not very deep or precise, is fairly entertaining. And then you get to the spider level, and the whole thing goes belly-up: the environments get exponentially harder to navigate; there are suddenly small enemies that swarm you in ways that have not been the case earlier in the game; and the final boss is frustrating in ways unrivalled by previous bosses. After dying about a bazillion times, I finally gave up on the thing.

Without playing the original it is hard to tell what the Warmastered edition did to improve the game but it looked and played just fine among modern games. There was one really strange bug, the volume meters in the settings are turned all the way down by default so when you begin the game there will be noise from combat but no dialogue or music until you go adjust the volume settings. I had to restart in order to have volume in the long opening cinematics. Once that was adjusted it was smooth sailing. The story was good but it was the gameplay that made the game great. It has a Zelda vibe to it. I liked how a new game mechanic was introduced throughout the game to change the combat and puzzle mechanics as the game progressed.

The world ends and you need fight your way against the worst enemies possible to redeem yourself for the "crime" of start it all.This couldn't be the more genial thing ever, but off course was made the best way possible, making us enjoy every time War swing his sword or any of the weapons he take in the journey that mix battles, 3D platforming, puzzles, hidden collectibles and all this kind of stuff in a game that has mechanics remembering other great blasts from the last 20 years like Devil May Cry, Prince of Persia, God of War and Legend of Zelda.Both original and remaster release looks and play the same. The only difference is visual, which doesn't mean too much since the game already have a fine visual with cartoonized style back at its original release. Things just turn a bit more smooth in Warmastered.

THQ Nordic did a fantastic job by porting the first game of one of their best franchises onto Switch. For those who missed the original or any of the Warmastered Edition versions, now is the time to jump in one of the greatest action-adventure games....on the go.

Anyone who wants a quality Zelda-style action adventure game on their Switch is going to be better off with Okami HD. Darksiders: Warmastered Edition is a polished and shiny bronze medal. Fighting monsters is as standard can be, and what keeps things stimulating is the variety of the environment, puzzle solving, spectacle, and the exploration to be had. It is satisfying to stumble on a hidden chest and find some upgrade that War could use as it is in most adventures. Often entertaining but not exactly emotionally engaging, Darksiders takes itself too seriously.

I have not replayed through the Warmastered Edition on Switch as I write this, but I have played it some — enough that I feel ready to report that the game is still great but that this release is quite simply a direct port to the Switch with no new features or changes that I can discern.

I think it's a pretty great port at a great price point. I would have paid full price for this, honestly.

Darksiders Warmastered Edition is a great game with elements of exploration and puzzles. His artistic design is based on Christian mythology and is really amazing, with good characters and a complete story. Some elements look old but it’s still a very funny hack and slash. It does not have many new features for veteran players, but if you are new to the franchise it is the best way to enter it.

But having Switch we do have to remember about it's downsides from which low performance (in compare to XO and PS4) is the biggest one. The game itself is one of best of ports on Switch I played so far, well... excluding Skyrim, hard to beat that one even though it's buggggged in so many ways on every platform I played it. And back to Darksiders - great graphics with no bugs, 60FPS with still great graphics, smooth performance, PRICE, ridiculously short loadings (in compare to Civilization 6 for example which in switch version I absolutely hate). I do recommend Darksiders on Switch to everyone. I really do. And the price of $30 is really great, even for a port (in compare look price for D3, Skyrim or C6).

Darksiders: Warmastered Edition is a faithful port of the original that brings every slash of Chaoseaster and every bloody execution to Nintendo Switch in all its glory. While still the inferior entry in the Darksiders trilogy, this first outing is still a robust action-platformer full of satisfying melee combos, open-ended levels and a suitably over-the-top story. Easily one of the most underrated franchises to appear in the previous generation, Darksiders is a solid port that finally unleashes the Apocalypse in handheld form.

While not the definitive version, Darksiders: Warmastered Edition is no slouch on the Nintendo Switch. Whether played in graphics or performance mode, docked or handheld, it’s still an outstanding version of an already outstanding game.

Darksiders is still a beautiful game that follows the classic Zelda formula with an apocalyptic setting and comic style characters. It is the same game released for Wii U, with no additions.

Even though this is a remake of a six-year-old game, it still holds up pretty well as far as gameplay is concerned. Darksiders: Warmastered Edition looks at its best at 4K resolution and as a game, it's better than its sequel.

Warmastered Edition keeps the essence seen in the original game a few years ago. As a whole, it’s a surprising game, which works especially well comprehending in a neat way the affluence of its genre classics, taking it back in a work that it’s already a classic. It's not quite as fresh and exciting as it was in 2010, but I still think it's something everyone should try out. If you've played it before, it's worth revisiting. If you haven't, it's a solid adventure that's well worth your time.

Darksiders is one of the games you should have played in your gamer life. If you missed it back in 2010 the Warmastered Edition is the perfect chance to give it a try!

Of course I would like to talk about a sequel. But nonetheless six years after the original again I had a lot of fun with War and his improved visuals within the timeless comic design. Unfortunately some mechanical flaws remain untouched.

We have seen plenty of other re-releases with DLC, extras for those who search for them and even new modes, but Darksiders Warmastered Edition is only an upgrade in its simplest form. It's a game that feels slightly dated with its gameplay but it is still enjoyable whether you're a returning player or a new one.

Its graphics may look a little dated, and performance does unfortunately decline as you approach its end, but for £14.99 it provides an enjoyably compelling 15 plus hour adventure full of fast-paced combat and brain teasing puzzles that is easy to recommend. Fans of God of War and Zelda in particular will certainly find a lot to like about it.

A masterful re-up with a great story, a beautifully grim world and exciting, fast-paced gameplay. And that price point makes it essential.
