Comandanti, radunate i vostri eserciti! CHECK vs. MATE richiede un piattume interattivo, noleggiando il principio del gioco degli scacchi di successo nel mondo multimediale attuale. Figurine di fantasia animate si riuniscono in mondi magici e attendono il vostro comando! Come comandante, esegui abili manovre sul tabellone di gioco e catapultati direttamente nella battaglia con attacchi devastanti, scacchiere contro scacchiere.
Dopo una causa del 2012 da parte di Interplay Entertainment per violazione della proprietà intellettuale, "Battle Chess" contro "Battle vs Chess", il gioco e i suoi DLC/Edizioni sono stati rinominati Check vs. Mate e rilasciati digitalmente in Nord America.
Anche se il contenuto è lo stesso, al gioco è stato dato un secondo elenco su Steam per il nuovo titolo, in quanto Battle vs Chess ha carte di scambio Steam non collegate al titolo NA.
Questo ha anche portato alla presenza di differenze tra le chiavi di Steam nei negozi online per il gioco e i suoi DLC/Edizioni, causando alcuni problemi all'epoca.

Check vs. Mate could have been very good if the developers hadn't been lazy with character animations, or if someone had taken the time to write a legitimate story.

Check vs. Mate is a good game to check out if you enjoy playing combat/strategic style games that make you think and leave you upset when the computer beats you.
